WMA Regulations: A-C
This section of the 2025-2026 Hunting Seasons and Regulations provides information related to lands managed for hunting by Wildlife Resources Division.
Small game and furbearers may be hunted subject to statewide seasons and bag limits except during quota hunts and unless otherwise specified in a specific area listing.
Unless otherwise specified, any season not listed follows the statewide regulations.

Area Notes
Butler Refuge (east of Hwy 17 on Butler Island) and Ansley Hodges MARSH Project (west of Hwy 17 on Champney Island) are always closed to firearms but archery equipment may be used during open dates listed above to take deer, hog, and rabbits after the last Saturday of waterfowl season. Airboats are banned in managed waterfowl impoundments. Access to Rhetts Island is limited to designated crossover sites, with boats restricted to a 25hp motor or less. Fishing, shrimping, and crabbing are prohibited on Rhetts Island during early teal and statewide waterfowl season. Butler Island ponds and impoundments west of HWY 17 are closed to cast netting. Drone use, including launching and landing, is prohibited.

The Chattahoochee WMA Check Station has moved to DNR-owned land near Smithgall Woods/Dukes Creek State Park at 34.6720932° N, -83.778786° W. From Cleveland, go north on Main Street (U.S. 129) for 3.5 miles, turn right onto GA Hwy 75A, and travel 4.2 miles towards Helen. The station driveway will be on the left, across from Duke’s Creek Baptist Church, before Asbestos Road.
