Index to Game Land Map

Each game land falls into one of five categories and is so designated in the individual game lands listings. A special permit may be required for some species on any of these areas (apply at gooutdoorsnorthcarolina.com). The five designations are as follows:

  • Three-days-per-week areas (3): Game lands on which game may be taken during the open seasons and hunting is limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. days when these holidays do not fall on a Sunday. Falconry may be practiced on Sundays.
  • Four-day-per-week areas (4): Game lands on which game may be taken during the open seasons and hunting is limited to Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. These areas are closed to hunting on other days of the week, unless specifically opened under the individual game lands listings.
  • Six-day-per-week areas (6): Game lands on which game may be taken Monday through Saturday during the open seasons. Falconry may be practiced on Sundays.
  • Seven-day-per-week areas (7): Game lands on which game may be taken Monday through Sunday during the open seasons.
  • Permit-only areas (P): Game lands on which a special permit is required to hunt or trap. To apply for any special permits in the listings below, visit ncwildlife.org/PermitHunt.
  • The hunting of migratory birds is prohibited on Sunday
  • Falconry on Game Lands: Within established hunting seasons and on open hunting days, falconry is also allowed on Archery and Safety Zones in game lands.
