Below is a list of nonresident hunting, fishing and recreational licenses. All licenses are available for purchase through Go Wild, any sales locations or DNR Service Center unless otherwise noted. Individuals with medical or mobility limitations, preventing them from purchasing required in-person licenses, may submit their qualification documents online for review to allow for online purchase. Product availability is based on qualifications, please review your catalog options before making selections, as license/permit/registration products are non-refundable.

Licenses are valid from April 1 through March 31 of the following year.

Nonresident First-time Buyer

Wisconsin offers numerous licenses and now offers a First-time Buyer license.

This First-time Buyer license is a reduced-rate license offered to customers to introduce them to hunting or fishing. It is also available for any customer who has not purchased a license in any of the last 10 years.

Note: Under state law, those under 12 years old will not qualify for the first-time buyers' discount but will need to participate in a mentored hunt.

Nonresident Student Licenses

Nonresident students studying in Wisconsin, who meet one of the following qualifications, may purchase nonresident licenses at resident rates:

• Full-time student attending a public or private college or university located in Wisconsin offering an associate degree or higher
• A citizen of a foreign country temporarily residing in Wisconsin while attending a high school located in Wisconsin
• A citizen of a foreign country temporarily residing in Wisconsin while attending an agricultural short course at the University of Wisconsin System

Qualified students will present either a student identification card, student transcript, or course schedule showing they meet one of the qualifications to any license agent.

Nonresident Military Licenses

Qualified nonresident Armed Forces member, who present eligibility documents to any license agent may purchase nonresident military hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses at resident rates. Qualified Armed Forces members include:

• Nonresident Armed Forces members on active duty, stationed in WI
  Required documents: military ID/CAC card or active duty orders, and document showing you are stationed in Wisconsin. You will also need to attest that you are currently on active duty in the Armed Forces.
• Members of the Wisconsin National Guard or a Reserves (active or non-active) located in Wisconsin
  Required documents: military ID/CAC card and document showing you are a member of the Wisconsin National Guard or Reserves and stationed in Wisconsin.
• Nonresident Armed Forces members on active duty or activated Reserves unit members, stationed outside of WI, but were WI residents at time of entering active services
  Required documents: military ID/CAC card or active duty orders. You will also need to attest that you are currently on active duty and was a WI resident when you entered active service.

Nonresident Purple Heart recipients who exhibit proof at a DNR Service Center of having received a Purple Heart medal is eligible to purchase a nonresident Conservation Patron license for $161 and other hunting, trapping, and fishing approvals at resident rates. ATF Regulations

Important: New Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulations regarding non-immigrant visitors bringing firearms or ammunition into the United States, requires the completion of ATF Form 6 NIA(5330.3D) (Import Application). Once approved, Form 6 NIA(5330.3D) becomes the actual permit. The visiting non-immigrant must also posses a valid hunting license issued by one of the 50 states, or an invitation to, or registration for, a valid sport shooting event. ATF Form 6 NIA(5330.3D) can take 8-12 weeks for approval so applicants should plan accordingly. An approved Form 6 NIA(5330.3D) is valid for one year from date of issuance. It cannot be reused.
