Hunting

Director's Message

Oregon is a beautiful place to recreate – and that is something I will never take for granted.

Every day, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife staff, volunteers, anglers, hunters, and many other partners work tirelessly to ensure our fish, wildlife and their habitats are sustained for future generations.

I also do not take for granted that hunters and anglers have been at the forefront of conserving Oregon’s fish and wildlife for generations. I hope you will take time to enjoy the resource you’ve helped sustain and celebrate the abundance of opportunities that Oregon has to offer.

I learned first-hand growing up in South Carolina that hunting and fishing connects people to the outdoors. It also connects us to each other. Your enthusiasm and joy will help us keep this connection going with the next generation, and those generations with the next. This connection with the outdoors and the desire to protect them for the future is our best chance to sustain our fish and wildlife.

So, I hope all of you take every opportunity to get outdoors with your family and friends this year. Consider taking someone new hunting or fishing too, because everyone belongs outdoors!
