NEW YORK’S INLAND TROUT STREAM MANAGEMENT PLAN
New York’s Trout Stream Management Plan sets a course for managing trout streams based on their biological and recreational potential through sound science. The approach is bold, yet pragmatic. By differentiating between wild trout and stocked trout management, it balances our duty to manage and restore natural populations with the need to supply expanded recreational opportunities to meet angler needs. This will be done under a categorical approach to management that is transparent and simple to understand. The categories set angler expectations and serve as goals for enhancement through habitat management practices.
