Battle Born Pond
Battle Born Pond is a new urban fishing pond in the Reno-Sparks area that was recently opened to the public. Donated by the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), it provides an exceptional warmwater fishery and seasonal coldwater fishery for Nevada fishing license holders.
Battle Born Pond contains healthy populations of largemouth bass, green sunfish, channel catfish, and is stocked with rainbow trout. For anglers looking outside of the box, common carp are numerous in the pond and a fun species to fish for.
Anglers can expect the most success targeting the warmwater species that inhabit Battle Born Pond during spring through early fall. Trout fishing is productive in the cooler months of the year as the fish are in close to shore in the mornings and evenings.
Over the last few years NDOW has augmented the largemouth bass population in Battle Born Pond through fish transfers from other public and private fisheries around the Reno area. Fishing lures such as jigs, crank baits, soft plastics, and others have shown to give anglers a chance at catching large bass.
Battle Born Pond can be accessed off Wingfield Hills Road which is between Pyramid Highway and Vista Boulevard. Access and parking is still being developed so please be aware of neighborhoods and single-family homes when parking.
NDOW is excited to continue to manage Battle Born Pond as a unique urban fishery. Biologists expect the fishing to only get better as it continues to be stocked and augmented with warmwater and coldwater fish species.
