2023-2024 Mississippi Outdoor Digest Cover - Fishing Edition

Mississippi Outdoor Digest

Mississippi’s rich natural heritage is evidenced in every area of the state. From the broad vistas of the Mississippi Gulf Coast to the rich, alluvial soils of the Delta, there are places to experience the Magnolia State at its best. From the pine forests of the southwest to the Appalachian foothills in the northeast, the bounty continues.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks sincerely hopes the 2023-2024 Outdoor Digest provides you with helpful information for all your outings. This agency is founded on the principles to conserve and enhance the natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities in our state. Through the continued support of the citizens and communities in our state, we can provide some of the most enjoyable outdoor attractions in the nation. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating, wildlife watching, biking, canoeing, kayaking, and nature photography are just the beginning of a list of opportunities awaiting you every day of the year.

An essential goal for MDWFP is fostering our young sportsmen and women. Principles of conservation must be handed down through each generation, and we are challenged to ensure that it continues. Seasonal hunts, fishing rodeos, and other events geared toward Mississippi’s youth are a significant part of our agency. We even offer special youth hunting opportunities at selected Wildlife Management Areas. While these are designed for the enjoyment of youth, parents, and volunteers, our staff has a good time as well.

We create precious memories whenever we enjoy the fruits of our labor with family and friends in Mississippi’s great outdoors. This year, we challenge you to make new memories with hunters, anglers, or outdoor enthusiasts to ensure our outdoor heritage continues for the next generations. Each outdoor experience is unique as it brings with it a renewed sense of hope and anticipation of undergoing something new and exciting
