Lynn Posey, Executive Director of Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks

Mississippi is a state that is blessed with diverse ecosystems, offering endless opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. From the Delta to the hill country, from the Appalachian foothills to the golden Gulf Coast, from the mighty Mississippi River to the Pine Belt, Mississippi is a natural resource wonderland.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is committed to conserving the state’s abundant natural resources for future generations. Whether you’re interested in hunting white-tailed deer or wild turkey, hiking in the woods, bird watching, or shooting photographs, Mississippi has something for everyone. With 53 Wildlife Management Areas, 18 State Fishing Lakes, and 25 State Parks, MDWFP provides affordable and accessible destinations for exciting adventures. Memories are cherished when we enjoy the fruits of our labor with family and friends in Mississippi’s great outdoors. Each unique experience brings renewed hope and anticipation.

The continued support of individuals who enjoy the benefits of Mississippi’s lifestyle is necessary to conserve Mississippi’s land, water, and wildlife. The Outdoor Digest is published annually to provide essential information for all your outings. It also is our response to the continued support we receive from citizens and communities in our state. This partnership is crucial in providing some of the most enjoyable outdoor attractions in the nation. We thank all of you who have worked alongside MDWFP’s dedicated staff to sustain the state’s outdoor heritage.

I wish you a successful and safe season and hope you enjoy everything our natural resources offer. See you outdoors!
