What’s New for 2020-2021
Virginia Bird Hunting
- The daily bag limit for scaup has been changed from 2 birds per day to a hybrid season with a 1-scaup daily bag limit for the first 40 days (October 9-12, November 18-29 and December 19-January 11), then a 2-scaup limit for the remaining 20 days (January 12-31). Two scaup per day are allowed on both Youth/Veterans Waterfowl Hunting Days (October 24 and February 6). See Regulations by Species.
- The Atlantic Brant season has been increased from 30 days to 50 days while maintaining a 2 brant per day bag limit. See Regulations by Species.
- Legislation passed during the 2020 session changed some laws related to waterfowl hunting and stationary waterfowl blinds. These changes prohibits hunting in the public waters of the Commonwealth within 150 yards of a residence without the consent of the landowner. The legislation also requires a person applying to license a stationary blind in public waters to also have a state and federal duck stamp. See Waterfowl Blind Laws for additional information.
