WMA Regulations

Special Closing Times on Wmas

Waterfowl hunting on all WMAs, except for North Chickamauga Creek and Fort Loudoun WMAs, close at sunset on the last day of the duck season.

  • During the waterfowl season, hunting on Camden Unit I, C. M. Gooch Units A and E, John Tully, Old Hickory Unit I, Reelfoot, Tigrett, West Sandy, White Oak, South Fork Refuge, Wolf River and Maness Swamp Unit—Obion WMA closes at 3 p.m. (CST) except on the last day of each segment of the season when hunting closes at sunset.
  • No waterfowl hunters are allowed on Barkley Unit I, Big Sandy, Camden Unit I and Unit II, Cheatham Lake WMA, Chickamauga units, Gooch Units A and E, Haynes Bottom WMA, Old Hickory Unit I and Unit II, Tigrett, West Sandy, White Oak, Maness Swamp Unit—Obion WMA, South Fork Refuge and Three Rivers WMA from 2 hours after legal shooting hours have ended until 4 a.m. the following day.
  • WMAs with special closing times are open all day, each day of the Youth Waterfowl Season.

Special Regulations on Wmas

REGION 1

Barkley WMA Unit I:

Closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday except the first and last day of each segment of the late duck and goose seasons. From Nov. 19–23 and Nov. 26–30, all activities are prohibited on subimpoundments. All activities are prohibited in the subimpoundments on days when waterfowl hunting is closed.

Big Sandy WMA (including Gin Creek):

Closed on Tuesdays and Fridays except the first and last day of each segment of the late duck and goose seasons. From Nov. 19–23 and
Nov. 26–30, all activities are prohibited on subimpoundments. All activities are prohibited in the subimpoundments on days when waterfowl hunting is closed. No fishing during the late duck season.

Bogota WMA:

All hunt units except pool 1 will be allocated by a special computerized draw. See Computerized Drawings.

Youth Waterfowl Hunt (for youths 6–15 years of age) Feb. 2 and 9, 2013. Youth waterfowl hunts will be allocated by a special computerized draw.

Bogota WMA (Pool 1):

Hunting of waterfowl during the late duck season permitted only on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and the first and last day of each segment of the late duck season. All hunting closes at 3 p.m. (CST) each day, except the last day of each segment of the season when hunting closes at sunset.

Camden Unit I:

From Nov. 19–23 and Nov. 26–30, all activities are prohibited on subimpoundments. No fishing during the late duck season.

Gooch Unit A and Unit E:

From Nov. 19–23, all activities are prohibited on subimpoundments.

The Maness SwampObion River WMA:

Hunting unit is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the late duck seasons. All hunting closes at 3 p.m. (CST) each day, except the last day of each segment of the season when hunting closes at sunset.

Shelby Forest:

Waterfowl hunting is open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday within the statewide duck season and the last 7 days of the statewide duck season, except Sunday. No permanent blinds. No decoys left overnight.

South Fork Refuge:

Hunting of waterfowl during the late duck season permitted on Saturdays and Sundays, and the first and last day of each segment of the late duck season.

West Sandy:

From Nov. 19–23 and Nov. 26–30, all activities are prohibited on subimpoundments. No fishing during the late duck season.

WHITE OAK:

Hunting is open with statewide duck seasons. All hunting closes at 3 p.m. (CST) each day, except the last day of each segment of the season when hunting closes at sunset. From Nov. 19–23, and
Nov. 26–30 all activities are prohibited
on subimpoundments.

Thorny Cypress WMA:

All hunt units will be allocated by a special computerized draw. See Computerized Drawings.

Youth Waterfowl Hunt (for youths 6–15 years of age) Feb. 2 and 9, 2013. Youth waterfowl hunts will be allocated by a special computerized draw.

Region II

AEDC and Woods Reservoir Refuge:

Closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday except the first and last day of each segment of the late duck season.

Cheatham Lake:

Closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday except the first and last day of each segment of the late duck season.

Haynes Bottom:

Closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday except the first and last day of each segment of the late duck season.

Region III

Chickamauga
(Candies Creek, Johnson Bottoms, Rogers Creek and Yellow Creek Units):

Open each Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and the first and last day of the statewide season. Hunting ends at 3 p.m. local time on Thursday and Friday. All hunting during the regular duck season is from registered blinds only. Blinds allocated through Computerized Drawings. During young sportsman waterfowl hunts youths may hunt from registered blind sites on a first come first serve basis, and must enter the hunting area only from established TWRA parking areas.

North Chickamauga Creek:

Open each Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and the first and last day of the statewide season. Hunting ends at noon each day. Shot size #2 or smaller is required.

Region IV

Fort Loudoun:

Same as statewide except only open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Hunting ends at noon each day. Shot size BBB or smaller required.
