Tag sale deadline: The day before the season end date.

Party applications are not allowed. Controlled hunt application procedures.

Notes:

  • No less than 5% and no more than 10% of all Rocky Mt goat tags can be issued to nonresidents.
  • One nonresident Rocky Mt goat tag will be issued for 951A2 Elkhorn No 2 and one tag for 959A1 Hat Point No 1.
  • All Rocky Mt goat hunts are controlled hunts where the number of hunters is limited and tags are awarded through a public drawing. A person may draw only one controlled Rocky Mt goat tag in a lifetime.
  • Tag numbers listed are the 2017 tag numbers authorized by the Fish and Wildlife Commission.
  • Rocky Mt goats are located in extremely steep and rugged terrain at higher elevations and hunters should be in good physical condition.

Bag limit: One Rocky Mt goat.

Other regulations: Orientation class with district biologist IS required. Rocky Mt goats taken by hunters must be marked by ODFW personnel prior to hunters leaving the hunt area. All hunters must check out through the local ODFW office in the district where the hunt occurs within 72 hours after completing their hunt unless other arrangements have been made. Checkout must occur during normal business hours (Mon. – Fri., 8-5) unless prior arrangements have been made.

Rocky mountain goat and Bighorn Sheep hunters: Nonresidents may purchase raffle tickets.

Private lands will limit access for highlighted hunts. Do not apply unless you have access to a place to hunt.

Hunts 951A1, 951A2 and 951A3: Elkhorn – All of Unit 51 and that portion of Unit 50 that lies east of USFS Rd 7300.

Hunt 956A: N Wenaha – 100% public lands. That portion of Unit 56 within the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness; north of the Wenaha Rvr and west of Butte Cr.

Hunts 959A1 and 959A2: Hat Point – 95% public lands. That part of unit 59 north of Freezeout Creek Rd 4230 and Saddle Creek Trail 1776.
