See What’s New for 2017

  • All controlled hunt tag numbers have been set. The numbers listed in the ‘2017 Tags column of the controlled hunt tables are the tags available to be drawn for the fall 2017 seasons.
  • Edible portions of game mammals is now defined and includes the meat from the front quarters, hind quarters, the loins (backstrap), and tenderloins. For elk, the meat of the neck is also included.
  • There are a number of changes to Wildlife Areas including winter range closures beginning in the fall of 2017.
  • Proposed date changes are under consideration for the Clear Cr. (52A) and Indian Cr.-Gorham Butte (52C) TMAs in the Starkey WMU; closures are proposed to begin 3 days prior to opening of the 2017 general deer and elk archery seasons. Final regulations will on TMA Maps and available on the ODFW website by August 15, 2017.
  • REMINDER: Access to hunting areas changes each year. Access to some private lands is by “fee only”, requiring an access permit or lease. For the most current information, hunters should contact the landowner(s) of the area they are interested in hunting.

Western Gray Squirrel Regulations

Open Season: Aug. 26 – Nov. 8

Bag Limit: 5 squirrels daily.

Possession Limit: 15 in possession.

Open Area: All units west of the eastern boundary of the Santiam, McKenzie, Indigo, Sprague and Interstate units. Exception: No bag limit or closed season in that part of the Rogue Unit south of Rogue Rvr and S Fork Rogue Rvr and north of Hwy 140.

Open Season: Sept. 9 – Oct. 15

Bag Limit: 3 squirrels daily.

Possession Limit: 6 in possession.

Open Area: White Rvr and Hood units.
