An Approach Towards Identifying an Optimal Buck Harvest Strategy
- Identify several options to reduce harvest of yearling bucks, including mandatory ARs.
- Evaluate how these options may affect yearling buck harvest and other key factors (e.g., freedom of choice, ability to take any deer, deer population monitoring).
- Assess how important each factor (e.g., reduced yearling harvest, freedom of choice) is to hunters in a particular area.
- Relate importance values and expected outcomes to identify the optimal strategy for hunters in a particular area.
