An Approach Towards Identifying an Optimal Buck Harvest Strategy

  1. Yearling-Portion-chart_opt.pngConception-Dates-chart_opt.pngIdentify several options to reduce harvest of yearling bucks, including mandatory ARs.
  2. Evaluate how these options may affect yearling buck harvest and other key factors (e.g., freedom of choice, ability to take any deer, deer population monitoring).
  3. Assess how important each factor (e.g., reduced yearling harvest, freedom of choice) is to hunters in a particular area.
  4. Relate importance values and expected outcomes to identify the optimal strategy for hunters in a particular area.
