Junior Hunting

Junior Hunt Days

The following Junior Hunt Days are special days just for hunters under a certain age to hunt accompanied by a mentor. All young hunters participating in these days must have completed a hunter education course, possess a valid hunting license (or be exempt from license requirements), and be accompanied in the field by an individual who:

• Is 21 years old or older.

• Possesses a valid Maryland hunting license, or is exempt from hunting license requirements.

• Is not afield with a firearm, bow or other hunting device.

The Maryland DNR does not provide specific hunting sites or mentors for these hunting days.

Junior Deer Hunt days—November 14 & 15, 2015 (See Junior Deer Hunt Days)

Junior Turkey Hunt days—April 16, 2016 (Statewide), April 17, 2016 (Sunday hunting in certain counties only, see Wild Turkey)

Hunters 16 years of age or younger may participate in the Junior Deer and Turkey Hunts Days if the individual has completed a hunter education course and possesses the printed receipt showing proof of purchase of the valid hunting license, or is exempt from Maryland hunting license requirements and has completed a hunter education course.

Junior Waterfowl Hunt days—Dates to be announced in September

Hunters 15 years of age or younger may participate in the Junior Waterfowl Hunt Days if the individual possesses a valid hunting license or is exempt from Maryland hunting license requirements. The individual must possess the printed receipt showing proof of purchase of the Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp.
