The following Junior Hunt Days are special days just for hunters under a certain age to hunt accompanied by a mentor. All young hunters participating in these events must be accompanied in the field by an individual who:
• Is 21 years old or older.
• Possesses a valid Maryland hunting license, or is exempt from hunting license requirements.
• Is not afield with a firearm, bow or other hunting device.
The Maryland DNR does not provide specific hunting sites or mentors for these hunting days.
Junior Deer Hunt Season—November 10 & 11, 2012*
Junior Turkey Hunt—April 13, 2013 (Statewide), April 14, 2013 (Calvert, Caroline, Charles, Dorchester, and St. Mary’s counties)
Hunters 16 years of age or younger may participate in the Junior Deer and Turkey Hunts if the individual possesses a valid hunting license or is exempt from Maryland hunting license requirements.
Junior Waterfowl Hunt—Date to be announced in September
Hunters 15 years of age or younger may participate in the Junior Waterfowl Hunt if the individual possesses a valid hunting license or is exempt from Maryland hunting license requirements. The individual must possess a Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp.
* Junior deer firearm hunting is open on Sunday, November 11 in Allegany, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Kent, Montgomery, Queen Anne’s, St. Mary’s, Somerset, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico, and Worcester counties on private lands only.
