Fishing Regulations Icon Maryland Fishing

“To Catch a Fish,” is one of the Maryland Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights, issued as part of the Maryland Partnership for Children in Nature, an initiative to ensure all Maryland young people have the opportunity to connect with their natural world and grow to become informed and responsible stewards.

Maryland’s My First Fish Program recognizes an angler that catches his or her first fish in Maryland. A special certificate is available online to an angler for this first fish.

Fishing rodeos are typically held at small ponds or lakes and are aimed at helping beginners successfully catch a fish, visit dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/Pages/youth/rodeo.aspx.
