New Regulations

What’s New for 2013–14

  • Additional property has been added to Warrior Mountain WMA in Allegany County. The new 155 acres is accessible off Oliver Beltz Road.
  • In the Deal Island WMA and Fairmount WMA impoundments, motorized boats, except those powered by electric motors, are prohibited between October 1 and March 31.
  • Legislation passed during the 2013 General Assembly created several changes for hunters in Maryland:

New Web-Based License System

DNR’s new web-based COMPASS licensing system provides the fastest and greenest way to purchase your hunting license. In addition to our 7 DNR Service Centers and more than 250 sport license agents, this web-based system is available 24/7 for self-service online purchases and 7 AM to 7 PM via our live operator call center. All convenience fees have been eliminated. Licenses are available for instant printing and an electronic copy is emailed 30 minutes after purchase.

Connect to COMPASS through or by phone 1-855-855-3906. On your first visit, you will enter and/or verify your personal information. You can then print your free DNRid Card.

Your DNRid number is all that will be needed to locate your account for future purchases.

If you purchase the same licenses each year, bring your current license with you next year. COMPASS can scan the barcode included on your license document to get you afield quicker. Hunters can print additional Big Game Harvest Records and check your harvest, both free, through COMPASS online.
