Each one of us understands the rich hunting traditions we have here in Maine. Inside the pages of this new law book is an unprecedented detailing of our hunting and trapping history, the nearly limitless opportunity afforded our state’s hunters and trappers, and the unparalleled management of a number of our most important wildlife species. They stand collectively as a great testament to the continued work and dedication of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and its staff.

I want to personally thank you for purchasing a hunting or trapping license and remind you that with it comes the privilege of enjoying the unique outdoor experiences Maine has to offer. From the trophy deer seen on the cover of this law book to majestic moose and elusive black bear, from bobcat to ruffed grouse, the Maine hunter enjoys an experience like no other.

We’re excited that you’ve chosen to enjoy our outdoors. Have fun and be safe out there.

Chandler E. Woodcock
MDIF&W Commissioner
