Message from the Commissioner

Brought to you by:

Thank you for choosing to ride in Maine. Whether you choose to ride an ATV or a snowmobile, your most difficult choice just may be where to go on our many thousands of miles of trails in the state.

Maine’s ATV and snowmobile trail systems provide access to some incredible places, and your travels are likely to create lasting memories. Many of the trails you travel will be on private land. Please respect the land and the landowner, as your actions can impact access for all of us.

Before you head out this season, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this booklet and your machine. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and it begins with you. Please wear a helmet, and also let someone know where you’re going and when you plan to return. Do not drink and drive.

I also hope that you consider joining an ATV or snowmobile club. These local clubs are the primary reason Maine has such a vast and diverse off-road trail network. Creation and maintenance of nearly all these trails is done by local clubs. Your support of these clubs ensures that riding in Maine will continue to be an enjoyable experience for all.

Thank you, and always ride safe and ride smart.

Chandler E. Woodcock
