Governor’s Message

My Fellow Georgians,

As governor, I encourage all Georgia motorists to understand the rules of the road and practice safe driving habits.

If all drivers and their passengers would fasten their seat belts, obey the speed limit, refrain from driving under the influence and texting while driving, we would greatly reduce the number of fatalities on Georgia’s roads.

Commercial drivers are a valuable asset to our state’s economy and one of the many reasons Georgia has been named the No. 1 state in the nation to do business. From our highway system, which allows trucks to reach 80percent of the U.S. market in just two days, to our highly trained workforce, Georgia has a wealth of resources to keep us competitive in the
global marketplace.

The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is working hard to issue licenses and identification cards in an efficient and friendly manner. Because your time is valuable, DDS has adopted improvements to speed up and simplify the process. Employees will strive to meet your needs in a way that is convenient to you.

Thank you for helping make Georgia’s roads and highways a safer place to travel.
