Dear Students,

Congratulations on achieving this very important milestone in life. Driving is a privilege, and with this newly earned freedom, comes a huge responsibility. You have the responsibility as a driver and a passenger to practice safe driving habits especially avoiding the deadly distraction of using a cellphone while driving or driving while impaired.

The Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP) is one of several important measures our State has designed to address the tragic problems caused by the use of alcohol and other drugs on our roads and highways.

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers, and almost a quarter of those crashes involve an underage drinking driver. Please take this information seriously, because it may save your life.

As you earn your license, please visit www.dds.georgia.gov and create a customer account. It will enable you to quickly find the answers to many questions. You may monitor your driving history, replace a lost license or renew your license online.

As DDS continues to create ways to serve you better, I ask that you make safe driving your number one priority while in a vehicle.
