What’s New for 2014

Brought to you by:
  • It is lawful to take the invasive fish species snakehead, blue catfish, flathead catfish, walking catfish and grass carp with a bow and arrow in the tidal waters of the State.
  • Delaware’s black drum minimum size limit (16 inches) and daily limit (3 fish) now apply statewide. Formerly these measures only applied to the Delaware Estuary.
  • Delaware’s recreational black sea bass season and daily limits have changed. The open seasons are now May 19 – October 14 and November 1 – December 31 with a daily limit of 20 fish. The minimum size limit remains 12.5 inches (excluding the caudal filament).
  • Anglers that catch a tagged largemouth bass from the Nanticoke River, Broad Creek or Broadkill River can now report their information online at de.gov/basstagreturns.

2014 Free fishing Days!

In celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week, June 1 – 8, the Division has designated June 7 and 8 as free fishing days when anyone may fish in Delaware’s waters without a fishing license.
