Fishing is enjoyed for its excitement, relaxation and time with family and friends. Your Division of Fish and Wildlife is committed to bringing you quality fishing in the great outdoors by scientifically managing sustainable fish populations and providing quality fishing and boating access facilities.
You as an angler are a key partner in helping us achieve quality fishing through your conservation ethic and financial commitment to fish conservation and fishing access. Anglers fund the majority of our fisheries management and research and public fishing access facilities through your purchase of fishing licenses used to match federal funding from purchases of fishing equipment. Delaware’s 82,412 licensed recreational anglers currently generate nearly $5.3 million in combined state and federal funds. On behalf of the Division, THANK YOU for financially supporting fish conservation and fishing.
Delaware’s economy also benefits from recreational angler spending at sporting goods stores, restaurants, motels, gas stations, convenience stores and other businesses. Economic data from 2011 indicated that fishing contributes $149.1 million to Delaware’s economy and supports 1,319 jobs, serving an important role in Delaware’s “conservation economy.”
As an avid Delaware angler for many years, I hope to see you on the water. Wishing you “tight lines” this fishing season…
David E. Saveikis
