Directions to Hunter/Trapper Education Classroom Locations

Cedarfield Ruritan Club – Milford

From Route 113 South: Head South on Rt. 113. Before coming to the Rt. 113/Rt. 1 split you will see I.G. Burton car dealership on your right. Pass the dealership and immediately take the 1st right onto Tub Mill Pond Road. Wind around the “S” curve and the Ruritan Club (white building) is on your left.

DNREC / Div F & W Auditorium in the R & R Building – 89 Kings Highway in Dover

From US 13, turn west on Loockerman Street. Cross the bridge and turn right at the first traffic light (next to the Post Office). The road leads directly into the DNREC building parking lot.

Ommelanden Hunter / Trapper Education Center and Range – Rt 9, New Castle, (302) 323-5333

From the City of Wilmington: Follow Rt. 13 South towards New Castle. Continue following Rt. 13 past the split at Rt. 40. Pass the traffic light at the Beaver Brook Apartments, Beaver Brook Shopping Center and Chaddwyck. Pull into the third turn lane and turn left onto Federal Lane. There are signs for Ommelanden and the Kirkwood Soccer Club in the median. After turning left, follow Federal Lane until it connects with Rt. 9 (River Road). Turn left onto Rt. 9 North and travel approx. 100 yards. The facility is located on the right side of River Road and has a large wooden sign and a gate at the entrance. Ommelanden is across from the Kirkwood Soccer Club.

From points North: Follow I-95 South. Take exit 4A towards the Christiana Mall Road and Rt.s 1 and 7 South. Stay in the left lane and follow Rt. 1 South. Pass the exits for Rt.s 273 and 40. Get off at exit 156B on the left towards Rt. 13 North. At the first intersection are two gas stations and a Wawa. Turn right at this light onto Hamburg Road. Follow Hamburg Road until it ends at Rt. 9 (River Road). Turn left onto Rt. 9 North. Ommelanden is approx. 2 miles on the right. There is a large wooden sign and a gate outside the facility. Ommelanden is across from the Kirkwood Soccer Club.

From points South: Follow Rt.s 1 and 13 North over the Rt. 1 C&D Canal Bridge. Take the first exit after the bridge and turn right towards Delaware City. Turn left at the second traffic light and head north on Rt 9 between the refinery and the oil tanks.Drive north about 3 miles on Rt 9. There is a large wooden sign and a gate outside the Ommelanden Range across from the Kirkwood Soccer Club.

Taylor’s Bridge Community Center

From Odessa at US RT 13: Follow Rt 299 South and East. From Rt 299 turn left onto Rt 9 also called Taylor’s Bridge Road. About 6.6 miles from Odessa, at the old lighthouse, Rt 9 makes a sharp right turn to the south and becomes Flemings Landing Road. The Taylor’s Bridge Community Center (old brick schoolhouse) is about 100 yards south of the turn on the east side of the road.

Kent County Hunter Education Training Center at Little Creek Wildlife Area –

From SR 1, south of Dover Air Force Base, take exit 91 for Little Creek/Kitts Hummock. Travel 3.5 miles north on SR9 to Little Creek. (3018 Bayside Drive is .5 miles north of Little Creek city limits on the east side of the roadway)

The Little Creek Wildlife Area is located on the east side of Rt 9, approximately one mile south of Little Creek.


From Rt 113, take Rt 16 West approx 4.75 miles and turn South (left) onto Owens Rd. Drive approximately .75 miles and turn left again onto Hunters Cove Rd. Drive approximately .3 miles to entrance on left side.

From Rt 13, take Rt 16 East, approximately 2.5 miles and turn right onto Hunter’s Cove Road. Drive straight across Owens Rd (stop sign) then drive .3 miles to entrance on left side.
