Access Descriptions & Special Conditions
Camp Columbia State Forest: A portion of Camp Columbia State Forest is a Designated Deer Bowhunting Only Area.
Centennial Watershed State Forest – Canaan Block: The 146 acre parcel of the forest west of Old North Road is open to hunting. All other areas of Centennial Watershed SF in Canaan are closed to hunting.
Enders State Forest – Worthen Parcel: Designated Deer Bowhunting Only Area. Access and parking from Rte 20/Fox Rd. gate only. Portions closed to all hunting
Flaherty Field Trial Area: Turn east from Rte. 5 opposite East Windsor High School. Shooting and non-shooting field trial area.
Nod Brook Management Area: Avon, Simsbury between Farmington River and railroad tracks, off Rte. 10, approximately 1 mile north of Rte. 10/Rte. 44 junction in Avon. Shooting and non-shooting field trial area. Closed during events.
Black Rock Lake: Portions of area open to hunting through cooperation of the Army Corps of Engineers. Firearms hunting on federal land limited to shotgun ammunition only.
Bloomfield Flood Control Areas Site 2: Site 2 is leased to the town of Bloomfield and a special permit from the town clerk is required to hunt small game under special restrictions. Open during the pheasant season only. Site 3 is no longer open to hunting.
Hancock Brook Lake: Open to hunting through cooperation of the Army Corps of Engineers. Firearms hunting limited to shotgun ammunition only. Target or trap shooting prohibited.
Thomaston Dam: Open to hunting through cooperation of the Army Corps of Engineers. Firearms hunting limited to shotgun ammunition only. Waterfowl or small game hunting prohibited between March 30 and the third Saturday in October. Target or trap shooting prohibited.
Bristol Fish & Game Permit-Required Area: Special restrictions apply. See vendor for details.
NU-Skiff Mtn. Coop WMA: Sharon (east and west of Skiff Mtn. Road). Leased from Northeast Utilities.
Sessions Woods WMA: Area open to fall bowhunting for deer or turkey by permit. Portions open for firearms turkey hunting by daily permit. Permits issued in accordance with the procedures used for other Permit-Required Hunting Areas. Waterfowl hunting by daily permit in designated blind only. Handicapped hunters are given preference in the distribution of waterfowl hunting permits. Permits available at the Sessions Woods office on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Suffield Sportsmen’s Assoc. Permit-Required Area: From North Street, Windsor Locks, north to Massachusetts state line, east to the Connecticut River, and south to Russel Road, East Granby.
